Developmental Screening
Our screening tools do not provide conclusive evidence of developmental delays and do not result in diagnoses. Screening tools do not provide in-depth information about an area of development.
The purpose of developmental screening at MLA is to aid our administration in the admission process. The observation is standardized for all prospective students by using set developmental screening tools during the observation process for every prospective student. The developmental screening tests utilized by MLA are designed to help to discriminate between normal variations in development among children and early signs of a developmental delay. Developmental screenings, referred to as observation, include a brief, general, play-based tests of skills. All children develop at an individual pace. Our screening test does not provide conclusive evidence of developmental delays and does not result in diagnoses. We are not permitted to share in-depth information about the development of your child. Our observations/developmental screening process is designed simply to act as one of several tools that the administration will utilize to determine if MLA is the best early educational environment for your child.
MLA will require an observation/developmental screening for all prospective students wishing to enroll in preschool-3, pre-kindergarten or kindergarten classes. All observations are conducted by an educator trained to administer/utilize standardized testing and screening tools.
